Greetings,
Due to the nature of my job, I read many chairmen’s messages. I actually wrote some of them. Unfortunately, just a limited number could stir an excitement in me... I hope I will be able to arouse an excitement in you.
I am a journalist. Throughout my career, I worked for newspapers, weekly and monthly magazines and TV. I held various positions from reporter to editor and then to columnist. To me, the best profession in the world is, without a doubt, journalism. I suspect that there is any other profession entailing the right to ask questions to people, the obligation to find out, and the privilege to communicate news and information to others.
İndeks was set up with commitment and belief in a country where the meaning of content is still not understood and is not really given credit. It was back in 2001, right in the middle of the crisis. We set on the road with the motto of “producing and managing content”. The first time I constructed this sentence, it had to be followed by at least 10 others. What is content and why is it produced; once it is produced, why does it need to be managed... Some said I was selling ice to the Eskimos, some concluded it was a fantasy...
İndeks came into being on the first floor of my home. We had hilarious days, as much as painful moments. All in all, they are all very beautiful and precious. Every time I recall them brings a smile to my face. I surely cannot pass up without telling about the very first customer visit İndeks received. It was a multinational company... They wanted to see us and the team. The way we welcomed and hosted them was really something to see. Like I said, the office was located on the first floor of my home. There was a difference of elevation and we did not want people to go downstairs from inside the house. We wanted them to pass through the garden but one could only jump into the lower yard. So we ordered a staircase. As usual, everything was last minute in my lovely country... The manufacturing dragged on and they pushed the delivery to the last day. But things find their course somehow...
The staircase was on the way, as were the guests. We had a slight advantage because they got lost, so we gained some valuable extra time to work on the mounting of the staircase. When the team that was to entrust us with their corporate magazine approached the staircase, the work underneath it was still in progress. I felt my heart in my mouth as we moved on to the professional meeting all dressed up and fit to kill. The guests came and went without any problems... Click here for more |
